The hamlet of Addo is the crossroads where adventure, nature, hospitality, and agriculture converge to create a citrus-scented, action-packed destination for the whole family. The town is just 13km from the main gate, and reception, of Addo Elephant National Park. However, if you’re looking for even more, you can fly over orange groves and riverbeds on the highest, longest and fastest double zipline in South Africa, quad-bike along forest trails and take a river safari. Whether you’re catching your breath on a slow-paced digital detox or losing it on an adrenalin-pumping adventure, Addo is a year-round destination.
Visit at any time; Addo has excellent weather and, as spring starts in September, the smell of citrus blossoms fills the air and, from April to September, Addo becomes particularly lively as the picking season takes place. The scent of oranges lingers in the air, as the town comes to life for the harvest. Visitors can stay on a working citrus farm and enjoy both the national park and farm hospitality, fresh fruit and a braai under the clear night sky. The roadside stalls will be packed with jams, tarts, cakes and all kinds of treats.
