Beyond the citrus groves in the sun-drenched, evocativally named Sundays River Valley, lies Elephant House. A proudly South African, family-run lodge filled with broad smiles, home-cooked meals and good old fashioned hospitality.
The wide verandas (filled with comfortable sofas) forming a series of courtyards are a defining feature, whilst the décor of Elephant House evokes Colonial and African images and is furnished with the owners private collection of antiques, Persian rugs and Africana art.

Wining & Dining
With an abundance of fresh local and sustainable ingredients we are able to offer truly scrumptious and wholesome farm-to-table cooking throughout the day, inspired by the flavours of Africa.
Our traditional farm breakfasts are complimentary and served every morning in one of our relaxed settings until 11am.
Light lunches are lovingly prepared and then served by our chef on the terrace or beside the pool.
After sundowners, delicious three-course candlelit dinners are served daily: superb country cuisine complemented by some of the Cape’s finest wines.
The Wine Bar
A gathering place to reunite, reconnect and relax over a glass of great South African wine, a beer or a cocktail. It’s a fantastic venue for guests to enjoy.
To help make your trip as memorable as possible, we proudly offer various game viewing options in the malaria-free Addo Elephant National Park and the surrounding area, as well as some exceptional cultural encounters and leisure activities.
Our in-house safari company conducts trips twice day into Addo Elephant National Park but you are also welcome to do a self-drive excursion.
Kwandwe, Shamwari, Kariega, Amakhala, Schotia and Pumba are an easy drive from Elephant House and offer fantastic game drives. They are different to Addo – complementing it well – so a combination of Addo and a trip to one of these reserves is a great way to round off your safari experience in the area.
Bellevue, approximately 40kms from the Elephant House, offers guided walks through the bush, one of the highlights being able to get reasonably close to the giraffes.
